OPPORTUNITIES IN MUSIC AT SAINT VINCENT COLLEGE

Because the arts are so crucial to a liberal arts education, there are many ways you may participate in the music programs at Saint Vincent College. We are pleased to offer the following opportunities in music in addition to our Music and Music Performance degree programs.

  • Classes: We offer classroom courses in both music history and theory at all levels.

  • Personalized Instruction: You may take private lessons on any instrument including voice regardless of your major. Our gifted and dynamic faculty members provide a one-to-one studio setting that focuses on the needs and abilities of the individual student. Music students perform in recital throughout the academic year. Credit is offered for lessons.

  • Performance Opportunities: We welcome you to participate in our choral ensembles:

    • Saint Vincent College Singers: A choral ensemble that meets twice weekly and performs a major concert each semester. SVC Singers may be taken for credit. An audition is held for vocal placement. Singers meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 pm to 5 pm.

    • Saint Vincent Camerata: A select music ensemble that specializes in vocal music of the Baroque and Classical periods. The Camerata performs a Christmas concert in period costume and a Lenten concert. It joins with the other ensembles each semester in a College's Voices of Saint Vincent performances of a major work. Camerata rehearses once each week. An audition is required.

  • Two Recital Series: In addition to providing performance opportunities, Saint Vincent presents many concerts and recitals on campus. Saint Vincent students attend all concerts and recitals at no charge.

    • Department of Fine Arts Concerts feature a variety of student, faculty, and guest performers.

    • The Saint Vincent College Concert Series hosts world-class artists in recitals and chamber music concerts in the intimate and acoustically superb Science Center Ampitheatre.
