Saint Vincent is a partner in the Loyalhanna Creek Mine Drainage Coalition which has developed an maintained 3 wetlands on 20 acres of land on the campus.  The wetlands address the problems of the mine drainage into the Loyalhanna Creek, but they also serve as a natural habitat for a wide variety of plants and wildlife.  The environmental Education Center is housed next to the Wetland Treatment Systems and provides hands-on programs for primary, elementary, middle and high school students as well as college and adults group tours.

The Loyalhanna Creek Mine Drainage Coalition is a joint effort of numerous federal, state and local governmental agencies as well as companies and interested foundations.  The connections to these groups provide a leg-up when competing for internships and jobs at the environmental organizations in Saint Vincent's network, such as:

Environmental Protection Agency
Loyalhanna Watershed Association
PA Department of Environmental Protection
PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
Powdermill Nature Reserve - Carnegie Museum of Natural History
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
U.S. Forest Service
PA Game Commission
